Facade of Aves

All etchings are a combination of intaglio and chine-collĂ©. Facade of Aves was etched and printed the Summer of 2012 at the Hege-Cox Art Department at Guilford College. Thanks to my  friends and professors at Guilford College for their support and studio.

The following were commissioned by my brother, graphic designer Ian Galdy, for his client

Commissioned Tattoo Designs

These are two sketches I did for a tattoo design of Mother Earth. My client wanted to represent Mother Earth mourning the state that she is rapidly falling to. Not being a tattoo artist, I had a hard time simplifying lines and content to fit the size and positioning on the body. The final tattoo looks much different from the drawings I have below, but I really liked these original sketches.

Murals

I was fortunate enough to work with two different groups of high school students in San Isidro on a couple of murals. One mural was the idea of a friend and fellow teacher, the drawing and design I did myself, and the painting was completed by the students. The other I directed, but gave full liberty to the students to draw, paint and design how they wished; both were amazing collaborative experiences.

Teaching Art in Spanish

After graduating from Guilford College I decided to explore Central and South America, specifically to learn Spanish. My travels took me to Nicaragua, Guatemala, Chile and Argentina. While in Nicaragua, I spent a month working at three different schools in the San Isidro community, just outside of the capital Managua. The following images are my students showing off some of the projects that we worked on.
